Concert Details
Hailing from Nelson, BC, and well known throughout the Interior for their vibrant performances, violinists Natasha Hall and Spring Burke, violist Martine Denbok, cellist Jeff Faragher, and double bassist Rob Fahie bring depth and artistry to this dynamic program.
Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) was a Czech composer celebrated for blending classical forms with folk-inspired melodies from his native Bohemia and, later, the United States. Known for his lyrical, vibrant, and accessible music, Dvořák’s works include symphonies, chamber music, choral pieces, and concertos.

Spring Burke – Violin
Violinist Spring Burke holds a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Memorial University of Newfoundland. At UVic, she was awarded the Muriel A. Raguin Scholarship for the top incoming fine arts student and served as String Chamber Music Teaching Assistant. Her principal teachers included Sharon Stanis, Nancy Dahn, and Dolores Vann, and she has participated in master classes with Mimi Zweig, Régis Pasquier, Mark Fewer, and Sergio Luca. Spring has performed with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Prince George Symphony, Galiano Ensemble, and the Symphony of the Kootenays. Based in Invermere, BC, she combines performing and teaching violin and piano with an active family life and a love of trail running and the outdoors.
Martine Denbok – Viola
Martine denBok holds a Bachelor of Music in performance from the University of Alberta and a Master of Music in performance from the University of Victoria. While studying in Victoria, she was a student of Ann Elliott-Goldschmid and the Lafayette String Quartet, worked as a student mentor, assisting public school string teachers and participated in workshops with Mimi Zweig, Gary Karr and Gwen Thompson.
Rob Fahie – Double Bass
Originally from Ottawa, Rob Fahie attended McGill University, completing his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. He then received a full scholarship to the University of Colorado, completing a dual-concentration Master of Music degree (jazz and classical). During his career, he has performed at prestigious jazz clubs and premier concert halls throughout the world including The Blue Note and Carnegie Hall. In 2013, Rob moved to Nelson and has succeeded in making a name for himself on the region’s vibrant music scene, including helming the Nelson Jazz Collective, and performing as Principal Bass for the Symphony of the Kootenays.
Jeff Faragher – Cello
Cellist Jeff Faragher, based in Nelson, is known for his captivating performance style and diverse musical interests, spanning genres like Celtic, gypsy-jazz, and tango. Jeff holds a masters in Chamber MusicPerformance from McGill University and has toured with many ensembles throughout North America. He is currently the artistic director of the Symphony of the Kootenays and program director at Mountainside Chamber Music, bringing his dynamic artistry to stages across Western Canada.
Natasha Hall – Violin
She has appeared as soloist with the Oxford Sinfonia, City Chamber Ensemble (London UK), Battersea Ensemble (London UK), Calgary Civic Symphony, Symphony of the Kootenays, Carnegie Mellon University Baroque Ensemble and the Selkirk Youth Orchestra. Prior to a recent move back to her hometown of Nelson BC, Natasha spent the last decade based in London UK and is a member of the English Chamber Orchestra. She has performed regularly with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the Aurora Orchestra. Natasha and pianist Yoomi Kim enjoy playing recitals together regularly. Alongside her musical endeavors, Natasha enjoys practicing Shinrin Yoku, is a certified Forest Therapy Guide and the founder of Kootenay Forest Bathing. Always passionate about learning, she is especially interested in exploring music as a sensory experience, particularly in multimedia contexts.
